Glacial Caverns is the 16th level in the Mushroom Kingdom and is a mixture of the ice underground levels found in Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World.
Layout[]
This level takes place inside an underground ice cavern, where several Mario enemies are seen frozen inside some ice cubes, such as Shy Guys, Ninjis, and Goombas. There are frozen pipes and a crystallized ice wall in the background.
In the first area, the player will explore this huge area, going between the upper and lower routes and skiing around the frozen ground while dealing with a number of Mario enemies. such as Goombas, Flurries, Chargin' Chucks, Buzzy Beetles and Piranha Plants coming out of the frozen pipes. If the player lands on the bottom route, they need a spring and a green P-Switch in order to get up to the upper route and melt some ice blocks for bonus coins and rupees if they have a fire-type power-up or sub-weapon on them. At the end of this area, the player enters a pipe to the next area.
In the second area, the cavern has more ice cubes around the place, flip blocks, and unfrozen water to swim in, while the player has to deal with more Mario enemies, such as the unfrozen Ninjis, Cheep Cheeps, Swoopers, and Fire Bros. Once the player finds a pipe to exit the cavern, it takes them back to the surface, where they grab the flagpole to clear the level as they go to Frosty Flight next on the map.

Trivia[]
- Monty Moles, Swoopers, Nipper Plants, Snifits, Spikes, and Boomerang Bros were originally found in this level in older versions of MKF but have since been removed. Venus Fire Traps, on the other hand, were originally absent.
