King Watinga's Revenge (Also simply known as Watinga's Revenge) was the first secret level in Avenue of Memories after clearing Tetropolis. This was one of the game's "super boss" optional levels. Super boss encounter stages are extremely short, containing only two rooms, a power-up room and the boss room.
Layout[]
The stage's boss and main feature was a second version of King Watinga, who seeked revenge for his defeat back in the stage Tetropolis. This version of King Watinga was a super boss-class enemy. Like most bosses that entered this category, he featured abnormally complex and difficult patterns and was meant to be much more difficult to defeat than most bosses encountered during normal gameplay. While he was more like his original encounter initially, he changed color to purple and fired a more complex, but predictable pattern of shots once his life meter had been reduced by half.
In the v0.85 version of Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, this level was removed from the game.
Trivia[]
- In the 2008 trailer for MKF, there was plans for the player to pick up bombs from the SHMUP Raiden and throw them at King Watinga but were removed in the final version of the level. They were mainly used to NOT hurt Watinga, but to clear away the bullet-hell projectiles. This served the purpose for the POW Block in that room.
- Prior to the v0.81 version of MKF, The background was originally a Halo Zero.
