The Lifejacket was a special powerup designed for Sonic, Simon Belmont, Mega Man, and Proto Man. Due to the fact that Sonic and Simon can't swim and and Proto Man's & Mega Man's armor makes them too heavy, there will be a monitor to give this powerup. The lifejacket would enable them to swim like all the other characters. It is a temporary powerup that only lasts for the level that it's acquired in and only appears when needed.
In the v0.8 update, this special powerup is now deemed redundant as all characters are now capable of swimming naturally due to the inability to swim being underutilized for almost all water-based levels.
